Kiwi Lee Tied for Second at Token Homemate Cup on the Japan Tour

Richard Lee, a 38-year-old New Zealand professional, placed second at the Token Homemate Cup on the recent Japan golf tour. His score was a respectable four under par 67 in the second round.

The player from North Harbor, New Zealand, was two shots back from the Japanese leading player, 28-year old Tatsunori Nukaga. The event was a good start for Lee’s first season. He had just qualified in late 2011 after gaining his Japan tour card.

It was a rewarding game for Lee who had just gone back to Japan after competing in the New Zealand PGA Pro Am Championship the previous week.

He opened the cup by scoring a three under par 68. Playing five birdies moved Lee into a good position in the standings. Another bogey moved him to second place with a three-way tie. This is definitely an excellent beginning for Lee, who is poised to achieve his first win on the Japan golf tour.

Of course, Richard Lee strives for even better games in the future, as he pursues his pro career. He is looking forward to a more successful season on the 2012 golf tour in Japan, hoping to do better than five cuts out of 13 events, his record in 2011. His performance in the Toshin Golf Tournament at Lakewood only landed him in 30th place with a tie.
