Turkey Hosts the 2013 European Tour

2013 European TourThe 2013 European Tour will be hosted, for the time, by Turkey. The Tour is scheduled one week before the DP World Tour Championship ends its season on November 7 to 10, 2013.

It has been announced that the tournament will be held in the famous Montgomerie Maxx Royal in Belek, Antalya. The world’s most renowned names in golf will compose the seventy-eight players who will compete for the $7 million Turkish Open championship.

The information was shared to the public during the second round of the Turkish Airlines World Golf Finals. This event was an exhibition game consisting of eight players including world number one Rory McIlroy and world number two, Tiger Woods. All these actions are believed to be part of Turkey’s preparation of the 2020 Olympics which the country will also be hosting.

Andrew Chandler, the Managing Director of International Sports Management, said, “This is just a great move for Turkey. This tournament ticks a lot of boxes for Turkey who are really driving towards a bid for the 2020 Olympics. Hosting big events like this tournament can only help that strategy, and to be able to announce a three-year deal for a $7 million tournament is a very rare thing these days.”
