Tiger Woods May Join the European Tour

tiger woodsSince there were changes made in the membership qualifications, Tiger Woods is now thinking over the probability of joining the European Tour which is anticipated to soon announce its participation in the Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup and the Seve Trophy. The tour membership currently requires 13 events in all.

Woods expressed that he considered going for a membership in the European Tour in 2000 when the requirement was 11 events. He said, “I knew I would have to play one of two more events back then when it was 11 but now that criteria is 13. I don’t know what my numbers are as I know I played 19 in the States this year and whether it crosses over or not but I will again look at it.”

“I did play Abu Dhabi but then 13 are certainly a lot more than 11, especially playing full-time in the States,” he added during an interview at the World Golf Finals held in Belek, Turkey.

If the European Tour includes the Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup, four majors, four World Golf Championships and an appearance in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, Woods will be left with two or three more events to comply the membership.

The organizers, on the other hand, still hope that Woods will consider competing in the inaugural event of Turkish Open, come 2013. The event is set to happen at The Montgomerie Course in Belek from November 7 to 10, 2013. Seventy-eight professional golfers, including world champions, are expected to compete not just for the trophy and honor but also for the whopping $7 million prize.
