Golf and Family Blends Well for David Duval

David Duval had his last win eleven years ago at the Open Championship held at the Royal Lytham and St. Annes Golf Course.

Now, back on the same golf course 11 years later, he is looking forward to another win. “Absolutely!” he replied when asked if he could still win. “Returning to Lytham for the first time since that victory in 2001 brought back some vivid memories. I haven’t had a reason to make the trip here, so it was kind of cool to see my name on the club board, in the gold ink on the wood, along with the other tournaments they have. It makes you feel like you’re part of the club,” David said.

David has acquired the balanced life and character of a fulfilled man. Accompanied to the tournament by his son, Deano, David told reporters, “My life has blown up exponentially, in a wonderful way. Back then it was all about me and all about golf just like the majority of people who have marched through here.” Referring to his family, he said, “There are some things that are a little more important. I’m pretty lucky to not be the same person I was, 11 years ago.”

Although he never put golf aside, a list of physical injuries and health problems limited David’s game for the past several years. Let’s share in his optimism and look forward to a good game from this champion.
