Feast of Golf in Ireland

Ireland offers a feast of five-star golf action this summer, with many of the big names in golf taking part in the fun. Male and female professional golfers will join forces for a festivity of golf. World’s number two and 2012 US Open winner Rory McIlroy and Open champion Darren Clarke take the front lines as the country hosts a top professional golf event for the first time in almost 70 years. Padraig Harrington and Graeme McDowell, both Irish Major winners, join this league of professional golfers.

The European tour and the Ladies Irish Open are two of the top tournaments to anticipate in the succeeding weeks. Current US PGA Champion Bradley Keegan and American John Daly are expected to attend the exciting 2012 Irish Open, which is hosted by Royal Portrush.

The Galgorm Castle Golf Club is hosting the Ulster Bank PGA EuroPro Open for the third consecutive year. This event has grown to be one of the most highly-anticipated golf events in the EuroPro Tour. It is indeed a feast of golf as Ireland stages no less than three EuroPro Tour events within the next two months.

“Ireland has an amazing depth of professional talent at the moment and it’s fantastic that golf fans will have the chance to see them on home soil at close range over the coming months. There’s no substitute for live action and to have the opportunity to watch some of the top players and stars of the future is a mouthwatering prospect which can only serve to increase the popularity of the game in Ireland,” said David Boyce, who is Tourism Ireland’s head of business and sports tourism.
