Major Championship Winner Goes to Ireland

Brendan Fehr was in shock after learning that he is getting a $9,000 all-expenses-paid golf trip to Ireland due to his entry in the Golf Digest’s Major Championship Challenge which is a fantasy golf competition based on five majors. The 35-year-old golfer from Arizona recalls, “I’ve subscribed to Golf Digest long enough to know that it’s owned by Conde Nast, so when Conde Nast came up on my caller ID, I answered the phone.”

Each winner from the five majors who will be competing for the Major Championship Challenge may choose from the three tournaments donated by Carr Golf Travel. Each tournament has its respective theme and all to be held in Ireland: the World Invitational Father and Son Tournament, Celtic Couples Challenge, and the World Invitational Father and Daughter Tournament which Fehr had chosen for himself. Carr Golf Travel has been successfully coordinating golf vacations in Ireland and Scotland for the past 22 years.

“I’m taking my wife to the Celtic Couples Challenge in Killarney which is great because in October we’re celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary,” says the man with an Irish heritage but was never able to visit Ireland. The Celtic Couples Challenge is scheduled from September 24 to 28, this year.

Fehr feels competitive about his game but admits that his wife might go for some refresher. “She’s competitive, like me, and we have plenty of time, so I think we’ll be OK.” The couple will enjoy a golf vacation, all expenses paid with four nights of lodging in a 5-star hotel.
