Stacey Lewis Wins the LPGA Classic

Stacey Lewis came out triumphant in the recent Mobile Bay LPGA Classic. The event was held at Magnolia Grove Crossings Course. This was the second time she bagged the LPGA tournament victory. Her first was when she defeated Yani Tseng at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in 2011.

The exciting win was ultimately achieved by a five-shot lead early in the round and a one-stroke victory in the final stretch of the game. Lewis was very consistent, playing well throughout the event. Her final score was 3-under 69.

She competed for the title against Lexi Thompson in the final round. Lewis’ nail-biting win was secured through a single stroke in the final stage, while Thompson had a tap-in.

With this win, Lewis became the third American winner in the current season, along with Jessica Korda and Angela Stanford. Korda’s win was in the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open while Stanford’s was in the HSBC Women’s Championship.

Stacey Lewis, now 27 years old, was born in Texas, though she currently resides in Florida. She went into golf professionally in June 2008 after earning medalist honors at the 2008 LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament. Lewis’ rank in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings was raised from 9th best woman golfer in the world to 7th.
